At Dalkia, we know that a successful orientation period is the key to employee retention. That's why we have set up a support programme for new hires, in addition to Veolia Environnement's orientation days for managers and employees across regions.

Dalkia training, which is highly popular, aims at ongoing improvement in work quality,

autonomy and employee versatility. In 2005, the sharp increase in the number of trained employees

can be explained by taking into account the training given to newcomers to the Group.

Mobility is a key component of Dalkia's corporate culture. It plays a critical role in the transfer of skills and expertise, which supports our growth.

In 2005, 2,919 Dalkia employees benefited from geographic and/or functional mobility. Mobility rose by 36% compared with 2004. All employees have open access to mobility offerings and mobility is encouraged by management.

Mobility gives employees the opportunity to change jobs within their own company,move to another Dalkia activity or take advantage of the numerous opportunities within the Veolia Group to explore and exercise their competencies in various trades.

These occasions for development are open to managers (450 in 2005) as well as non-managers (2,469 in 2005). Dalkia policy encourages and fosters internal promotion. In 2005, 2,587 employees benefited from it (6% of staff with permanent work contracts).

4. What training opportunities does Dalkia offer employees?

Training is a cornerstone of our employees' career paths.

We deploy an active training and skills enhancement policy that ranges from training sessions on environment-related professions for young apprentices to comprehensive training programmes for employees seeking a diploma, qualification or career advancement.

In September 2005, Veolia Environnement launched a recruitment campaign in the major cities of France to recruit 3,000 candidates through work-study contracts. The selected individuals are monitored by a tutor and once they have graduated, they will be offered permanent work contracts.

5. What opportunities does Dalkia offer outside France? How fast do you expect to expand internationally?

Expanding internationally is a priority for Dalkia. We already have a strong international presence, with 60% of our workforce, or 28,201 employees, now working outside France in all regions of the world.
