Dalkia will build the CHP plants, supply them with biomass fuel and operate them for a period of 20 years, generating steam for three of its industrial customers. The largest of the plants, which alone represents 69 MW of the total awarded capacity, is the Facture complex, located in Biganos in the Gironde region. In the Franche-Comté town of Tavaux, Dalkia will build a 30 MW biomass plant for Solvay, a manufacturer of specialty chemical and plastics products. Lastly, as part of the C5D group project led by Champagne Céréales, Dalkia's future 22 MW plant will power the agrifood factories of Chamtor and Cristanol at the Bazancourt complex in Champagne-Ardennes.
Leveraging its efficient process for procuring biomass fuel, especially waste wood, Dalkia is strongly positioned to win biomass supply and plant operation and maintenance contracts for the other selected projects.
Dalkia, Europe's leading provider of energy management services, has developed solid expertise in renewable energy solutions, particularly biomass, both in France and abroad. Nearly 150 of its central heating plants are fuelled by biomass, with a total generation capacity of 817 MW. Of these, Dalkia owns and operates the unit in Pecs, Hungary, which is one of Europe's largest. All together, Dalkia plants burn one million tons of biomass per year, of which 200,000 in France.
