INEOS Lavéra

Integrated energy and services.

The challenge

Existence of thermo-electric power station producing all steam requirements and 40% of electricity requirements. This station runs on fuel oil and residual refinery gases. The additional electricity requirement is supplied by the French power utility EDF.

Veolia Environnement's solution

  • Set-up of Lavera Energies (jointly owned by Dalkia and Air Liquide),
  • design, construction and operation of 100 MW cogeneration station (commissioned in November 2000),
  • maintenance and operation of power station and of the following utility distribution networks:
    - electricity (170 GWh),
    - steam (2 million tonnes at 78 bar),
    - treated water (2.5 million m3),
    - compressed air (100 million m3).

The benefits

  • Customer has a single service provider and benefits from synergies between the thermo-electric and cogeneration power stations,
  • this integrated offer should become even more attractive and efficient in the next few years.
