The fruit of several years of study and design, this exemplary project aims to recover resources from Lesaffre’s operations to produce local, renewable, and decarbonised bioenergy. This initiative fully aligns with the commitment Lesaffre has pursued forseveral years to reduce its carbon footprint, as well as the energy transition support strategy led by ÉS Group and Dalkia for industrial clients and the Alsace region.
An ambitious project serving climate action and industrial performance Electricity will play a major role.
Thanks to the implementation of a new energy plant combining heat recovery, high-performance steam heat pumps, and energy recovery from industrial streams, the project will :
- Cover a large proportion of energy needs through process electrification
- Produce 168 GWh of decarbonised heat, 68 GWh of which could be suppliedto Strasbourg's district heating network
- Achieve a 98% heat decarbonisation rate across the site
- Avoid the emission of 35,700 tonnes of CO₂ per year, equivalent to removingnearly 18,000 vehicles from the road
- Save over 40% of the groundwater volume extracted by the site
Lesaffre confirms commitment to sustainable industry
Through this investment, Lesaffre, ÉS Group, and Dalkia demonstrate their determination to accelerate the transformation of industrial sites by combining economicperformance, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
This project illustrates our ambition to turn the energy transition into a practical driverof competitiveness and sustainability. By recovering resources from our operations,we significantly reduce our carbon footprint while creating value for the local region
